Memorabilia, historic crests, documents and voices: preservation embraces the whole of Catania’s red-and-blue heritage. Listening, research and documentation are where our shared work begins.
The collection
Shirts, documents, photographs and items from matches. Every contribution begins with a conversation with the person who has cared for it: tracing its provenance, recording its story and agreeing how it can be documented and shared.
An archive of voices
The score stays in the record books. What it meant lives on in our memories. We want to gather the voices of supporters and those who shaped the story, connect them with documentary sources and make them accessible even to those living far from Catania.
Since 2024, Catania Heritage has been collecting memorabilia, researching historic crests and documenting the shared history of Catania and its supporters. The archive connects objects with their stories. Our preservation project also encompasses trademarks, documents and personal accounts, so this heritage can be shared and passed on.
Each object is studied through photographs, descriptions, provenance and personal accounts. Documented facts remain clearly distinguished from questions still under investigation: caring for an archive begins with accuracy.
Protecting historic crests and trademarks is one of the project’s aims. Gathering sources, researching their evolution and clarifying the rights associated with them lay the groundwork for protecting them and sharing their cultural significance. Our purpose is to preserve the connection between these symbols, Catania and its community.
A memory can give new meaning to a photograph or an object. We want to collect the stories of players, supporters, families and others who have lived Catania’s history, preserving their context and provenance.
