The foundation

A shared history. Ours to preserve.

Memorabilia, historic crests, documents and personal accounts: Catania Heritage is a foundation project dedicated to preserving and sharing Catania’s football heritage. It welcomes people from Catania, wherever they live, and everyone who wants to care for this history and pass it on to the next generation.

We hope to work alongside Catania City Council, the Sicilian regional government and football clubs. Public institutions are natural partners in a vision that belongs to the city.

Who can take part in the foundation project?

Everyone from Catania, wherever they live, and anyone who wants to preserve its football heritage. You do not need to own a collection: a memory, a piece of research, a skill or simply the wish to get involved can all contribute to our shared history.

Does preservation include historic crests?

Yes. Historic crests and trademarks, memorabilia, documents and personal accounts are all part of the same commitment. Alongside collecting and research, the project is laying the groundwork to protect these historic symbols and help people appreciate their significance.

What is Catania Heritage?

A project established in 2024 to collect memorabilia, promote the protection of historic crests and make Catania’s football heritage accessible to everyone. A foundation is the structure we hope to create around this work, open to everyone from Catania and all who share its aims.

What can I contribute?

Shirts, pennants, photographs, documents about historic crests, objects and personal accounts. You can also contribute time, research and expertise. Every proposal is discussed with the person sharing it, with an agreement on how it should be documented and presented.

What will the museum focus on?

Catania: the team, the shirts, the symbols, the people who shaped its history and the stories of its supporters. They are at the heart of the Catania Heritage project.

What opportunities will there be for the next generation?

The project envisages educational, sporting and cultural initiatives: programmes with schools and families, opportunities to bring generations together, and activities that foster inclusion.

How can public institutions get involved?

We want to develop a shared approach with Catania City Council, the Sicilian regional government and sports organisations. We welcome a conversation with anyone who wishes to help preserve this heritage and bring it to a wider audience.
